In a pivotal clash in Zone B of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 6, bottom of the table Tamil Thalaivas will take on up and rising defending champion Patna Pirates in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
The Thalaivas had a 27-23 win over Telugu Titans with an all-round display that gave them an edge in a low-scoring match. This broke their two-match winless run and was just their fourth win of the season in 12 matches. The Thalaivas stand bottom of Zone B standings with 25 points.
Captain Ajay Thakur has been their leading light of the season with a total of 118 points during the season, all but one coming from raids. The experienced all-rounder Manjeet Chhillar has contributed 44 points so far, as the Thalaivas look to climb up from the bottom and get into play-off contentions.
The Pirates defeated Dabang Delhi 38-35 in a very close affair in their last match. This was their third successive win, coming after a poor run of four straight losses. Thanks to this run, the defending champions have increased their points tally to 33 from 12 matches with six wins and six losses.
Raider Pardeep Narwal has been their star performer with 122 points in 11 matches this season. Giving him company is the young raider Manjeet who has 56 points in the 12 matches that he played.
The last encounter between these sides was in Chennai, which was the opening match of this PKL season. The Thailavas shocked the Pirates 42-26 in a dominating all-round display, but the Pirates look well placed for a role reversal in this fixture.
Fantasy Kabaddi Players to Watch
Ajay Thakur had an 8-point game against the strong Telugu Titans in his last match and was responsible for the shocking win. He already led his side with 14 points in the first game of the season against Pirates that eventually landed a 26-point win.
How can you have a fantasy team involving Patna Pirates without including Pardeep Narwal? The five-star raider had a 16-point game against Dabang Delhi, making light of their issues in right corner defence. Pardeep has eight Super 10s in the season in the 11 matches he played. Need we say more?
Manjeet had an 8-point game against Dabang Delhi making sure that there is enough support for Pardeep Narwal. He shone against Thalaivas when they met earlier in the season with eight raid points and could once again play an impressive role.
