Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

A win after six losses is a welcome change for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League 2019 season. Up next for them on Monday is a trip to Wankhede to play Mumbai Indians (MI) in the match #31.

Mumbai have four wins in their seven matches so far, with three wins coming in their last four. Bangalore have just picked their first win of the season and will hope to get into a winning run.

MI Preview

Mumbai’s season has been built around their strong top-order batting performances. Quinton de Kock (238 runs, SR 136) had dehydrating issues in the last match, but should be available for selection. With Kieron Pollard (185 runs, SR 177.88) recreating his old form, MI are in a better space at the moment.

Worries remain over their inconsistent bowling, with Jasprit Bumrah (eight wickets, ER 7.01) yet to be at his brutal best. Lasith Malinga’s return gives captain Rohit Sharma options in the bowling department. Rahul Chahar (three wickets, ER 6.64) has been a surprise package.

RCB Preview

After so many misses, Bangalore finally hit gold with Virat Kohli (270 runs, SR 126.16) and AB de Villiers (232 runs, SR 156.75) leading the charge. Worries remain over the contributions (or lack of) from the others. Marcus Stoinis (102 runs, SR 137.83) has shown a bit of spunk and could get more responsibility.

Barring Yuzvendra Chahal (11 wickets, ER 7.07), there is nothing to write home about the RCB attack. Every other bowler has been ineffective and even the economy rates are a worry.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Virat Kohli has had a disappointing season as RCB captain, but there’s nothing disappointing in his batting performances. Having already notched two 50+ scores, don’t count him out on scoring another.

Yuzvendra Chahal has been the lone bright spark for RCB in their poor bowling unit. The leg-spinner doesn’t mind buying his wickets and that makes his aggression very attractive.

Kieron Pollard can clear any ground and here in Wankhede, he is a crowd favourite. Having already hit 17 sixes this season, the burly all-rounder will look to add more.
