After so much speculation on ‘will it’ ‘won’t it’, the Indian Premier League 2020 (IPL 2020) is all set to light up UAE. There won’t be the usual glitz and blitz, but this IPL will not be short of excitement. The teams are full of top players and your fantasy picks are overflowing.
Defending Champions Mumbai Indians will start the tournament with a match against top rivals Mumbai Indians at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. The presence of Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni in the opposite camps make this game an exciting start to look forward to.
Mumbai Indians Preview
Rohit Sharma’s MI looks settled, although spin bowling remains a concern. Lasith Malinga is out of the tournament, but Trent Boult is a very good replacement. Quinton de Kock doesn’t play well against CSK (eight matches, 140 runs, Avg. 17.50), but is still a good option to choose.
MI have won eight of their last nine matches against CSK. Rohit’s batting exploits remain one of the biggest reasons for it. He has the most runs for Mumbai against Chennai with 646. Then there is Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya – two aggressive bats good for selection.
Chennai Super Kings Preview
Chennai were rocked in the lead up to the tournament. Suresh Raina pulled out of the tournament due to personal reasons and will leave a huge void. MS Dhoni’s batting becomes all the more crucial – since CSK’s return to IPL in 2018, he has 871 runs @ Avg. 79.18 and SR 142.55. He also has the second-most number of runs for CSK against MI (627).
Deepak Chahar has recovered from COVID-19 and should present a good fantasy choice. Dwayne Bravo and Imran Tahir have had a good Caribbean Premier League and make interesting choices.
Fantasy Players to Watch
Kieron Pollard enjoys playing against CSK. He has 449 runs at an average of 34.54 at a SR of 167.54. To go with that, Pollard had a SR of more than 200 in the recent CPL.
Ravindra Jadeja has 15 wickets in matches between CSK and MI. The spin all-rounder could be crucial on spinning tracks.
Krunal Pandya doesn’t have the same X-factor as his brother Hardik or Pollard but is a good choice standalone. With an ability to hold his own with both bat and ball, Krunal can turn out to be a surprise winner.
