FOOTBALL - EPL - NEWCASTLE vs MAN UNITED

It is a battle of two struggling teams in the English Premier League on matchday eight at St. James’ Park. Newcastle United (five points) will look to override history against another struggling giants Manchester United (nine points).

The hosts are in the relegation zone and will be keen to pick up a win and ease the pressure. As for the visitors, a win can ease their struggles which continue unabated. Each side is in its heap of misery and that adds uncertainty to this result.

Newcastle United Preview

The ‘Magpies’ are still searching for a first home win after Steve Bruce’s appointment. Newcastle have won just once this Premier League season (W1, D2, L4) and have scored just four league goals. Their defence, however, has conceded just two goals at home.

This is a season for pacy wingers and mid-fielders to excel against United. Christian Atsu and Jetro Willems will fancy their chances along the wings. Keep an eye on the tall forward Joelinton, who might enjoy the dead-ball situations.

Manchester United Preview

The Red Devils are coming off a disappointing 0-0 draw in the Europa League away at AZ Alkmaar. That only extended their scoring woes, with the side unable to score multiple goals since matchday one against Chelsea.

At the other end, defensive woes have meant United have not kept a clean sheet in seven Premier League away matches. Mid-field woes and injury crises in the strikers’ camp should be considered while making your fantasy picks. Keep an eye on Marcus Rashford, but be aware of picking doubtful starters like Paul Pogba.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Joelinton has just one Premier League goal this season and that has given his side full points. The current crisis at Newcastle could do with the forward doubling his tally.

Marcus Rashford has been the shining star for United this season. He has three league goals already, each of which has given or extended United’s lead.

Scott McTominay has been the driving force for United’s midfield this season. Not the usual goal machine that bulldozes, but certainly a stable presence.
