Fantasy Football: EPL Week 23 – Liverpool vs Man United Preview
This is the biggest game of the season, not just of the English Premier League. Liverpool vs Manchester United is one of the most celebrated contests in England. Although United are not in the title race, this contest takes the table positions out of the equation.
Liverpool are runaway leaders in the Premier League with 61 points from 21 matches. They have the best defensive record of the league with 14 goals. United are fifth in the standings with 34 points. With their top-four chances still flickering, it is the visitors who are desperate for a win.
Liverpool have won each of their last 11 Premier League home matches this season. They are looking to end the season unbeaten. However, this match could be their potential roadblock. After all, it was United who pinched points off Liverpool this season so far.
The forward trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are great fantasy picks. Keep an eye on the flying full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson. Both have been very impressive at either ends of the goal making them exciting picks.
Manchester United Preview
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already plotted the downfall of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur this season. However, injuries rob him of firepower and stable influence. Question marks hover around the availability of Marcus Rashford.
Selecting him in your fantasy side will be a risky option. Instead, you can look to add the pacy Daniel James to your side. Great on the counter-attack, the Welsh winger can torment Liverpool with his runs. Juan Mata might get a nod as well, and the veteran playmaker could be an interesting fantasy selection.
Fantasy Players to Watch
Trent Alexander-Arnold is one of the best right-backs in the Premier League. His fast bombarding runs will challenge United, and so will be his accurate passes.
Roberto Firmino doesn’t really get the credit he deserves – thanks to the exploits of Mane and Salah. The attacker has seven goals and four assists in the Premier League this season and should look to add more.
Daniel James might not be scoring as many goals as he should, but his runs down the flank will challenge Liverpool.
