Fantasy Football: EPL Week 16 – City vs United Preview

After the Liverpool derby during midweek, it is time for the ‘Manchester derby’ in the English Premier League. Manchester United will take a short trip across the city to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. With stakes so high, neither side can afford a loss here.

City are third in the points tally with 32, but a whopping 11 behind leaders Liverpool. Another loss here will be nearly curtains to their title hopes. United start this round at sixth and with 21 points. A loss would mean United will fall further down the top-four race.

Manchester City Preview

City have a few injury concerns to tackle, ahead of this derby. Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is back after suspension, but Sergio Aguero is ruled out. They have won 3-1 and 2-0 last season, which should give City a boost for this trip.

Gabriel Jesus was back to scoring ways in his last league game and should be given a glance during fantasy selections. Raheem Sterling is another name that props to mind. So does Kevin de Bruyne, who could boss the midfield battle. Fernandinho at the heart of City’s defence remains a worthy look as well.

Manchester United Preview

United picked up a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur during midweek. That made it four games unbeaten in the league for the ‘Red Devils’. However, a run of just one win in 11 Premier League away matches do not inspire confidence.

Coming to fantasy picks, Marcus Rashford is a great option. So is Scott McTominay, who seems to be United’s best midfield option at the moment. Mason Greenwood has shown a tendency to score important goals for United this season. The young forward could be a surprise pick.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Gabriel Jesus got a goal in his last match and should be confident. The City forward had 13 fantasy points against Burnley, his season’s highest.

Raheem Sterling has eight goals and one assist to his name in 14 Premier League appearances this season. The twinkle-feet forward can be a handful for the visitors.

Marcus Rashford has nine goals in his last ten appearances for United. With the visitors still struggling for consistency, Rashford might prove vital.
