Fantasy Cricket: South Africa vs England ODI I Preview

After the COVID-19 scare that postponed the first ODI on Friday, South Africa and England start their three match series on Sunday at Boland Park in Paarl. England had an easy 3-0 win in the T20I series and it will be a tough task for the young South African captain Quinton de Kock to stop the world champions from a rare ODI series win on South African soil.

Both teams will miss some of the key players due to injury and rests after the T20I series. Still, it would be a good opportunity for some of the younger players to make their mark.

South Africa Preview

For South Africa, Quinton de Kock is undoubtedly the biggest name and with the triple responsibilities of captaining, opening the batting, and wicket-keeping he is expected to be in the game all the time and should contribute significant fantasy points. Other key fantasy options for South Africa in batting would include Rassie van der Dussen, Janneman Malan, and David Miller if he is fit.

They will terribly miss the injured Kagiso Rabada but Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje should lead the pace attack supported by Tabraiz Shamsi. With all of them being good wicket-taking options should be in demand for the fantasy.

England Preview

Despite resting Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, and Sam Curran, England still look the stronger side between the two sides. They should not have any problem with batting where they will still get the service of captain Eoin Morgan, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, and Jos Buttler- all of these are fantasy favorites. They would also expect Jason Roy to get back into form.

Chris Woakes, Mark Wood, and Olly Stone would be their primary fast bowlers with support from Adil Rashid, the leg spinner. The all-rounder role can go to either Tom Curran or Moeen Ali depending on the conditions.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Quinton de Kock will open the batting and also expect to take few catches for the fast bowlers. He should be the primary pick from South Africa in the fantasy.

Jos Buttler is the true match-winner for England and generally provide loads of fantasy points with his aggressive batting

Without Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes is the primary all-rounder in the current England squad. He should be able to provide lots of fantasy points due to his dual role.
