CRICKET - BBL - SIXERS vs THUNDER

It is the first ‘Sydney Smash’ of this Big Bash League (BBL) season. Sydney Sixers will host Sydney Thunder in match #14 of the BBL 09. This match will be played on Friday at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), the home of the Sixers.

Sixers are coming off a 48-run win over Perth Scorchers. They have two wins and two losses in the tournament. Thunder have had a ‘no result’ against Adelaide Strikers at Canberra. Before that, they defeated Brisbane Heat (29 runs) and Melbourne Renegades (six wickets). Incidentally, Thunder remain the only unbeaten side of the tournament at this stage.

Sydney Sixers Preview

An all-round Tom Curran led the Sixers to a comfortable win over Scorchers in their last match. The England seamer remains a strong contender to repeat his heroics. With the bat, it is the exciting Josh Philippe (129 runs, SR 132.98) leading the show for Sixers.

Sean Abbott has nine wickets this season and continues to be consistent. His presence in your fantasy side is a given, and so is that of Ben Dwarshuis. The left-armer has been very impressive with his pace and control. Overall, the Sixers’ bowlers remain strong picks for your fantasy side.

Sydney Thunder Preview

Callum Ferguson has been scoring runs at a fair clip for Thunder this season. The experienced top-order bat will command a place in your fantasy side. Usman Khawaja is another name that comes to mind. With the left-hander free of national duties, the Thunder have seen his runs flowing consistently.

Daniel Sams has continued from where he finished the last season, with six wickets already. He is yet to score runs, but his wicket-taking ability makes him a good choice. Keep an eye on the utility all-rounder Chris Morris.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Sean Abbott is one of the best bowlers of all-time in the Big Bash. His wicket-taking ability makes him one of the first names on your fantasy team sheet.

Callum Ferguson has shown excellent form this season. His presence in the top-order means he gets a lot of chances to score runs.

Chris Morris has picked up two wickets in the only match he played this season. The all-rounder is a vital asset for the Thunder and for your fantasy side.
