Fantasy Cricket: Sixers vs Stars BBL Final Preview

After a long season that has seen 56 league games, we are into the final of the Big Bash League 2019-20 season. Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers – the top-two sides after the league phase have made their way to this match. This match will be played on Saturday at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

All eyes will be on the weather, as a deluge has been forecast for Friday and Saturday. A full game might be a dream, but getting a six-over hitout could be ideal. In case of a washout, the Sixers by virtue of being the first to reach the final will win the title.

Sydney Sixers Preview

The Sixers have been energised by the addition of Steve Smith to their ranks. Otherwise, it is the youngster Josh Philippe (435 runs, SR 125.72) who was their batting spearhead. James Vince (321 runs) and Moises Henriques (260 runs) have also been impressive and should fancy their chances of fantasy selection.

More than anyone, it is the Sixers’ bowlers who should be in your fantasy side. Shaun Abbott (14 wickets) has been among the wickets whenever he played and that is great news for the hosts. So is the presence of Josh Hazlewood, while Ben Dwarshuis (16 wickets) happily slides under the radar.

Melbourne Stars Preview

The Stars continue to enjoy the success of Marcus Stoinis with the bat (695 runs). The opener will once again be key for the Stars’ hopes, while captain Glenn Maxwell will also try to keep up the pace. The Stars’ captain is also regular with the ball these days which means selecting Maxwell is a good decision.

Some of the top Stars’ bowlers are in great form and make a strong case for selection. Haris Rauf (20 wickets) is beginning to get back to his best after a brief break for international commitments. Then there is Adam Zampa (18 wickets), who continues to be brilliant in the middle overs.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Marcus Stoinis is in the form of his life and very consistent too. His runs make a strong fantasy selection case.

Adam Zampa has warmed up for the final pretty well with impressive playoff performances. With the SCG track expected to take turn, he could be crucial.

Sean Abbott is one of the best when it comes to Big Bash. His skills are so adept that the captain can use him at any stage of the game.
