Fantasy Cricket: Sixers v Hurricanes BBL Preview

Table-toppers Sydney Sixers will face Hobart Hurricanes at Melbourne Cricket Ground in the 52nd match of the BBL on Sunday, 24th Jan. Both teams are coming off defeats in their respective last match.

With the competitive nature of the tournament, the Sixers have still not secured a top-four spot mathematically despite being at the top of the table for a long time. The Hurricanes also have a serious chance to qualify if the results can go their way.

Sydney Sixers Preview

The Sixers can boast of one of the most attacking batting line-ups in the BBL. Josh Philippe continues his good form and currently in the second position of the run-scorers list. He along with James Vince, captain Daniel Hughes, and Jordan Silk are the batsmen in form and should be popular among fantasy players. Daniel Christian is in a great all-round form with 200 plus runs and 12 wickets.

Their bowling is the weak link as demonstrated by the Sydney Thunder in their last match when they scored 232 runs against the Sixers. Among the bowlers, Ben Dwarshuis, Steve O’Keefe and, Carlos Brathwaite are currently have 14 wickets each and expected to provide key points in fantasy.

Hobart Hurricanes Preview

The Hurricanes have some key players but their inconsistency resulting in them being in the bottom half of the table. Ben McDermott is the star for them with 397 runs. There are also other fantasy options like Tim David, Dawid Malan, and, captain Matthew Wade who joined them since the last match after the completion of the Test series. D’Arcy Short is playing the all-rounder role with 244 runs and seven wickets.

Nathan Ellis, Scott Boland, and Riley Meredith are their three highest wicket-takers this season and should be part of most of the fantasy teams. Ellis had a 4-wicket haul in the last match and should continue the good form.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Josh Philippe has already scored 441 runs with a strike rate of 150. If he continues his form, he can very well reach 500 runs in this match.

Like Philippe, Ben McDermott is also in eye-catching form and played some of the most attractive innings of this season.

Tim David who is a part of the Singapore national team is a useful addition to the Hurricanes. He is regularly playing the finisher’s role for them and making key contributions.
