CRICKET - BBL - SCORCHERS vs HURRICANES

It will be Super Sunday in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2019-20, as match #24 will feature Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes at Perth Stadium. The two sides are stuck together on the points tally with four points from five games each.

The Scorchers have won their last fixture against Brisbane Heat by 40 runs. Both their wins have come in their last four matches. The Hurricanes are coming off a 31-run loss against Brisbane Heat. In fact, they have lost their last two matches and won just one of their last four.

Perth Scorchers Preview

The Scorchers got a timely win in their last match, but have been struggling otherwise. Josh Inglis and Liam Livingstone need to be a bit more consistent. Cameron Bancroft scored a 50 in his last match and is looming to be a good fantasy prospect.

With Fawad Ahmed and Chris Jordan leading the bowling, the Scorchers have their bases covered. The home conditions should suit their attack, although the other Scorchers’ bowlers are off limits for fantasy selection.

Hobart Hurricanes Preview

The Hurricanes have been over-reliant on D’Arcy Short. The opener has 145 runs this season with two 50s, both coming in wins. With no one around giving him support, the Hurricanes have been struggling for runs and consistency. The only one remotely aiding Lynn is Matt Renshaw, who has also been impressive with the ball.

Losing James Faulkner to an injury is a body blow to the Hurricanes. That will put more pressure on Qais Ahmad and Riley Meredith to deliver. With 16 wickets between them, this pair can’t be ignored for selection.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Chris Jordan has eight wickets at an ER of 8.23 this season. However, it is his fielding that has landed six catches which makes us sit and notice.

D’Arcy Short has been a picture of consistency for the Hurricanes. He has 145 runs to his name, with two 50+ scores. Both those 50s have come in winning causes.

Qais Ahmad has been very impressive for the Hurricanes. He has seven wickets at an ER of 7.16 this season.
