Fantasy Cricket: New Zealand vs India ODI I Preview

New Zealand had to endure a 5-0 T20I whitewash, but will hope for a bounce back in the ODIs. The first of the three matches will be played at Seddon Park in Hamilton. Winning the first match is crucial for the teams and for your fantasy selections.

Interestingly, the last time these sides have met is in the semis of the ICC ODI World Cup. That was the game where the Kiwis edged India. This time around, the hosts are in the midst of a poor run of form. New Zealand are winless in nine matches across formats.

New Zealand Preview

Captain Kane Williamson has joined Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult and Matt Henry on the injury list and will miss the first two ODIs. Tom Latham will be their stand-in captain and brings a great record against India. Having warmed up well in the 50-over Ford Trophy, Latham will be the one to watch out for.

The presence of all-rounders James Neesham and Colin de Grandhomme gives a distinct advantage to the hosts. However, they remain light on experience in the bowling front. If you are going for Kiwi selections, restrict yourselves to Latham, Ross Taylor, Neesham and maybe Henry Nicholls.

India Preview

India will have a new opening pair at the top. Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal are slated to debut together and will provide an exciting option. Regardless, the presence of Virat Kohli will be the one to boost their chances.

Jasprit Bumrah returns to the ODI squad and is a must for your fantasy side. Then their is Mohammed Shami, who brings a lot of good form over the last season. Among others, keep a watch on all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who excels in all three departments.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Tom Latham loves playing India. He made 593 runs against India in 13 innings, with an average of 54 and a SR of 90.53.

James Neesham has happy memories of striking well with the bat from the ODI World Cup. His recent domestic form has produced a personal List A best of 5//29.

Virat Kohli loves a challenge and with no Rohit in the side, he becomes all the more vital for India. With his thirst for runs, Kohli can be massive for India.
