Fantasy Cricket: New Zealand vs India 1st ODI Preview

New Zealand vs India 1st ODI

After a successful tour of Australia, India continue their ODI World Cup preparations in New Zealand. The two sides will clash over five matches, with the first match played in Napier.

This ODI will be played at McLean Park, that will hope to host a completed ODI for the first time since the 2015 World Cup. There is very little to separate these two sides, making this an anticipated clash.

New Zealand Preview

New Zealand have a very settled side ahead of this match, led by the aggressive Martin Guptill and Colin Munro at the top. While Kane Williamson gives a solid outlook to their side, the consistency of Ross Taylor is a huge boost.

Mitchell Santner returns to the side in the pace of the injured James Neesham. The pairing of Trent Boult and Tim Southee gives the Kiwis an edge with the ball. Ish Sodhi will look to keep control of the middle overs, while Lockie Ferguson’s pace is disturbing.

India Preview

India remain a top-heavy side, with Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli one of the best to have in the top-three. However, the Indian middle-order remains untested and will have to earn their runs against the Kiwis.

The impressive Bhuvneshwar Kumar will enjoy the swinging conditions in New Zealand, while all-rounder Vijay Shankar will give them balance. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav’s wrist-spin gives Kohli an interesting option.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Ross Taylor is in the best form of his life and has six consecutive 50+ scores coming into this match. The Kiwi middle-order batsman also has ten 50+ scores in his last 12 ODIs. Having him in your fantasy side will be a great boost for your points.

Virat Kohli has 1, 154 runs against New Zealand with five 100s and six 50s in 19 ODIs at a staggering average of 72.12. He can reward fantasy selection with much-needed points.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is irresistible when the ball swings and will relish the windy New Zealand conditions. With Jasprit Bumrah resting, Kumar will be the key player for India with the ball.
