IPL 2021 Preview

While the rising COVID-19 cases continue to raise questions, there is no denying the fact that the Indian Premier League remains one of the most followed T20 leagues of the world. The 14th edition of the IPL will be played across six Indian cities within bio-secure bubbles. Starting from April 9 and until May 30, the eight franchises will vie for top honours.

You can look forward to fantasy tips from our website throughout the tournament. This is the time though, to talk about the top-three fantasy picks for your season. Here are our choices.

KL Rahul – Punjab

The stylish right hander has been one of the in-form players over the past three seasons. He ended as Punjab Kings’ best batsman in each of the last three IPL campaigns. To do that in a team of strong T20 superstar batsmen like Chris Gayle is by no ways a mean achievement.

What makes Rahul an attractive fantasy pick is his all-round ability. To go with his batting, Rahul adds very vital points with his ‘keeping skills. Additionally, being Punjab’s best batsman and captain makes him the first name on the team sheet. That means he is a near-certainty to play every game unless injured.

Ben Stokes – Rajasthan Royals

There isn’t any doubt that Stokes is one of the premier all-rounders in international cricket. However, he is yet to establish his supremacy inT20 cricket. That’s not to say that Stokes has struggled in the IPL – far from it. The all-rounder has always been amongst the early fantasy picks. That is largely due to the enormous value he brings to the team in all three departments – batting, bowling, and fielding.

Last season saw Stokes being used limitedly with the ball. However, early signs suggest that his bowling could be used more extensively this season. And, there’s a tiny chance of Stokes being sent up the order as well! All this means Stokes could be a value fantasy pick for your teams.

Quinton de kock – Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians remain one of the favourites to lift the title and one of their key players would be Quinton de Kock. Together with captain Rohit Sharma, de Kock opens the batting for the Indians. This means a better chance at picking up fantasy points.

What gives additional boost is the value of de Kock as a ‘keeper. Mumbai Indians boast of a strong pace unit with the likes of Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, and Nathan Coulter-Nile. They revel in taking wickets with the new ball and Quinton could be their accomplice. That presents a great chance of fantasy points for your side!
