It is the start of a new era in Indian cricket, as day-night Test cricket takes shape. India and Bangladesh are the latest entrants to the pink parade. The second Test will be played day-night at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
India won the first Test comfortably by an innings margin to take a 1-0 lead. Although the logistics of this Test are completely different, India start with a huge advantage. Their bowling unit looks in perfect position to take advantage of the conditions. For Bangladesh, it is a chance to level the series with a win.
An excellent batting performance from Mayank Agarwal lifted India to an easy win in Indore. There were runs for Ajinkya Rahane and India will hope it continues the same way. Virat Kohli got out for a duck, but considering his hunger for runs there could be more in Kolkata.
It is the Indian seamers who present a selection headache. Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin are all worthy of being selected for your side. Ravindra Jadeja didn’t have much to do with the ball in Indore. However, he will be looking for more action this time.
Only Mushfiqur Rahim scored a fifty for Bangladesh in Indore. Other than him, there weren’t any noteworthy performances. The poor returns from Shadman Islam and Imrul Kayes could mean a change at the top of the batting order. However, the injury to Saif Hasan meant both the openers could get another chance.
Bangladesh are likely to bring Mustafizur Rahman into the side and the conditions could suit his bowling. Taijul Islam struggled for impact in Indore and could be replaced by a seamer. Based on the performances from Indore, expect Abu Jayed to walk into your side.
Fantasy Players to Watch
Mohammed Shami is in the best of his form and should walk into your fantasy side. Considering the conditions that will suit his bowling, Shami should enjoy it more in Kolkata.
Mayank Agarwal has been in excellent form with the bat ever since he walked into the Indian side. He has made 858 runs since his debut, making him the highest scorer in Test cricket over the last 11 months.
Abu Jayed was the only Bangladesh bowler who looked like taking wickets in Indore. He should give a good value for money.
