Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers will play their first match of 2021 on Saturday evening at the Gabba.
The Sixers who are currently at the top of the BBL points table had a dramatic last-over win in their last match thanks to Jason Holder’s brilliant hitting. The Heats, on the other hand, faced a heart-breaking 1-run loss when Mark Steketee was controversially run out in the last ball of the match.
Brisbane Heat Preview
The Heat are coming after two back-to-back matches against Hobart Hurricanes. Although they recorded their only victory of this BBL in the first encounter they lost the second one despite Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s five-wicket haul. They are still missing Chris Lynn and the rest of the batsmen lack consistency. Both openers Max Bryant and Sam Heazlett have played few good innings and can be opted for fantasy as James Bazley who played a couple of good knocks.
Mujeeb showed his class with the best ever bowling figure for the Heat last time out and in this form, he is a fantasy-must-have. Lewis Gregory is a good all-round option as he showed with his match-winning performance in the previous match.
Sydney Sixers Preview
The Sixers have won four out of their five matches till now. Jason Holder was at his absolute best as he blasted 16 runs in the 20th over but his three-match contract is complete, and he has left. They will depend on Josh Philippe to provide them a good start and captain Dan Hughes and Jordan Silk to control the middle and end overs. Both Hughes and Philippe are in the top-10 of this season’s run scorer’s list.
Their bowling will be strengthened by the inclusion of the English international Jack Ball who is coming from a successful Vitality Blast tournament. He will be supported by Ben Dwarshuis and Steve O’Keefe. Both of them already have 8 wickets each in their name.
Fantasy Players to Watch
Mujeeb Ur Rahman is always a valuable option in any T20 league and his performance in the last match made him essential for any fantasy squad.
Josh Philippe continues his good form and already scored 172 runs at the top of the order for the Sixers.
Steve O’Keefe already has taken 8 wickets with an average below 14 and an economy rate below 7.5. It can be a battle of spinners on Saturday evening.
