Fantasy Cricket: Australia vs India 4th Test Preview

Australia vs India Fourth Test

After an intense summer battle in 2018, Australia and India are set to sign-off the high-profile series. The traditional New Year Test will be played in Sydney at the Sydney Cricket Ground starting from Thursday. India have retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but both sides are adequately motivated for this match.

Australia Preview

Australia will be desperate to avoid losing their first-ever home series to India, but the signs aren’t good. There are many problems regarding the team composition and Aaron Finch is likely to be booted out of the playing XI. Usman Khawaja could be slotted back in his favourite opener’s slot. That may not be a bad thing, if you have him in your fantasy XIs!

Nathan Lyon (17 wickets) will enjoy the conditions expected in Sydney. He should be a shoo-in if you are looking for an effective bowler. Dry pitch or not, Pat Cummins and his all-round skills (138 runs, 14 wickets) are definitely worth considering.

India Preview

The successful debut of Mayank Agarwal in Melbourne has eased the Indian captain Virat Kohli’s woes. Cheteshwar Pujara (328 runs) has been in excellent scoring form through the series, which is a positive. The absence of Rohit Sharma leaves a chance to recall KL Rahul and slot Hanuma Vihari back in the middle-order. So, watch your fantasy selections!

Jasprit Bumrah (20 wickets) has been the best bowler on both sides in the series and should once again lead India’s bowling. The conditions at the SCG makes Ravindra Jadeja a natural threat. He already picked up five wickets in Melbourne!

Fantasy Players to Watch

Cheteshwar Pujara is in the form of his life in the series and looked the only comfortable player from both sides in the Boxing Day Test. One last memorable performance can’t be ruled out.

Ravindra Jadeja comes with a strong reputation and form to the SCG. The slow left-arm spinner relies on his nagging accuracy to be an effective bowler. The pitch conditions should also hep him in Sydney.

Nathan Lyon will look to start 2019 the way he ended 2018. Historically, the SCG has helped Shane Warne and Lyon will hope to continue the same trend. Have him in your squad and reap the rewards!
