Fantasy Cricket: Australia vs India 2nd T20 International Preview

Australia vs India Fantasy Cricket

Australia picked up a narrow four-run win, thanks to the Duckworth-Lewis system, in the 1st T20I at The Gabba on Wednesday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The win is massive for a side that has been struggling for victories and the Aussies will hope to trip the fancied India once again when they meet in the 2nd T20I at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday night.

It was a match curtailed to 17-overs-a-side after rain affected the game. Chris Lynn showed his love for Brisbane with a typical whirlwind innings of 37 off 20 balls. However, it was Glenn Maxwell’s 46 off just 24 balls that gave their innings the right impetus.

Andrew Tye struggled with the ball, but Adam Zampa (2/22) and Marcus Stoinis (2/27) made sure that the Indians are tripped at key moments. Captain Aaron Finch will be massively delighted with the nature of the win that wasn’t yet up to the mark, but still is a crucial one to help rebuild momentum for the summer.

India were left counting their mistakes in the field, as catches went down at crucial junctures. In addition to the sloppy fielding, two of their bowlers Khaleel Ahmed (1/42) and Krunal Pandya (0/55) leaked runs in buckets to let Australia off the hook.

Shikhar Dhawan bossed the chase with a magnificent knock of 76 off 42 balls. However, the failures of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli left India just short of the winning line. India can still take heart from the fact that they took the game deeper and only minor improvements to their play can see win and get back into the series.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Glenn Maxwell is enjoying the consistency like you have never seen in the hard-hitting batsman’s career. Knocks of 35, 38, 46 in his last three T20 appearances for Australia indicate that another good score is on the cards for him. His fielding and occasional bowling are also valuable for fantasy cricket scoring.

Marcus Stoinis is a feisty character that this Australian side badly needs. He can be innocuous on the field, but has consistently shown that he can score crucial runs and pick important wickets. What more can you ask! He also seems to have taken on the role of bowling at the death which can leading to plenty of wickets and fantasy points!

Shikhar Dhawan is a completely different batsman when in form, because he can move quickly into top gear while the opposition is still dazed. Runs should flow from his blade, as he enjoys the ball coming on to the bat.
