After losing the ODI series 2-1, India made a strong comeback to bag the T20I series with a match in hand. Tuesday presents a great chance for India to record their second T20I whitewash in Australia.
For Australia, injury is the biggest concern with as many as six players having some issues. Their batting looked okay, but the reserve bowlers could not stop the Indian batsmen from chasing down the target.
Australia need to identify their best possible eleven from the limited resources they have. Aaron Finch is racing against time to be fit and get back in the saddle. That could mean a possible rest for Steve Smith before the Tests. Stand-in captain Matthew Wade played brilliantly in the second T20I and should maintain his opening role.
Sean Abbott, Andrew Tye and Daniel Sams could get another chance as Australia look to find their combinations for next year’s World Cup. Aggressive wrist spinners always are in demand which makes Adam Azmpa and Mitchell Swepson impressive fantasy picks.
For a change, India will have nothing much to worry about. The T20I specialists should relish one last chance before the caravan moves to Tests. However, this being a dead rubber there could be temptation for experiments. Mayank Agarwal may be drafted in to open, while Sanju Samson could be given the ‘keeping gloves. Keep an eye until the last moment to decide your fantasy selections.
The Indian bowlers also should fancy another controlled performance. Navdeep Saini wasn’t released to participate in the three-day practice match against Australia ‘A’, so the temptation could be to give him another chance. Watch out!
Fantasy Players to Watch
T Natarajan has been excellent for India in both the T20Is so far. His variations make him an ideal captain’s choice for death overs. That could mean more fantasy points!
Matthew Wade enjoyed batting at the top of the order, something which he does regularly in the Big Bash. He could be an interesting pick to repeat the dose.
Hardik Pandya has had an excellent Australian tour so far with his hard-hitting capturing everyone’s imagination. His addition to the Test squad is still not guaranteed, which means he will look to make the most of this match.
