After the visitors take a dramatic 1-0 lead in the T20I series, Australia and India will travel back to Sydney to play the rest of the 3-match T20I series. The second match is on Sunday, 6th December at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Both teams are facing injury issues and will likely to provide more opportunity to youngsters. It could be a great platform to show their capability and cement their places.
Australia had a good start as Aaron Finch continued his good form with bat. But the middle order did not support and also a laboured innings from D’Arcy Short did not help. They may opt to open with Matthew Wade in the second match and bring on Alex Carey. What more, Carey may even captain, if Finch can’t recover from his hip injury.
Moises Henriques impressed with both bat and ball and should be a popular fantasy team pick for his dual point scoring opportunity. Mitchell Starc showed some form with the ball with a couple of wickets. Adam Zampa always loves getting wickets and that makes him an exciting addition. Nathan Lyon has been added to the squad and could fancy a go.
Indians got an important win despite a less than convincing performance with the bat. They must be thankful that KL Rahul maintained his great T20 form. Rest of the Indian middle order did not contribute much except a cameo from Sanju Samson.
Ravindra Jadeja’s injury rules him out of the series, but his absence provides an opportunity for Washington Sundar to bat up the order. He bowled brilliantly in the first T20I even when thrown the ball in difficult situations. Yuzvendra Chahal became the first concussion substitute man-of-the match and will now fancy a starting role. And, how can we not rave about T Natarajan!
Fantasy Players to Watch
Glenn Maxwell may not have had the same impact as the ODIs, but a return to Sydney could be a blessing in disguise.
KL Rahul had a different story than Finch as his great T20 form continues from IPL. Now as an opener, he is expected to contribute more fantasy team points.
Wrist spinners are always expected to do well in T20Is and provide good fantasy team points. Moreover, with a match winning performance in the first match, Yuzvendra Chahal would expect to continue his good show.
