Fantasy Cricket: 2019 ICC World Cup – West Indies vs Bangladesh Preview

Two teams with similar fortunes in the ICC World Cup will meet in match #23 on Monday. West Indies and Bangladesh will look to advance their top-four claims at Taunton. With both sides on three points each after four games, this one is a ‘must win’.

Windies have been brilliant against Pakistan, ran Australia close but lost the steam against England. Bangladesh started the same way, defeating South Africa impressively. Then somehow lost track after that and even their NRR is lower.

West Indies Preview

The firepower in the Windies’ side is incredible.Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Andre Russell and Carlo Brathwaite make their side dangerous. Although they remain inconsistent, they have surpassed the expectations this tournament.

The fitness of Russell remains a worry, while the balance of the side is also in question. Their recent record against Bangladesh is also very poor. However, the Windies have never lost to Bangladesh in three World Cup matches and will be looking to continue that.

Bangladesh Preview

The Tigers are capable of an upset on their day, like they showed against South Africa. However, their inability to play in seaming conditions could haunt them. With the pitch sporting green, it could be an advantage to the Windies bowlers.

More worries closer home are on the bowling form of captain Mashrafe Mortaza. There is also a distinct lack of consistency in the middle-order. Overall, the Bangladesh side looks out of balance, but capable of pulling it off.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Shakib Al Hasan has been the silent hero of the tournament. A promotion to number three meant he has scores of 75, 64 & 121. With impressive bowling in tow, Shakib is a must-pick.

Andre Russell and his knee problems are well-known. However, if the all-rounder plays, he can be a handful on this pitch.

Nicholas Pooran has surpassed all expectations with a calm head. His performances have come in testing conditions and consistently too.
