Fantasy Cricket: 2019 ICC World Cup – South Africa vs West Indies Preview

Facing the prospect of an early exit, South Africa face West Indies in a must-win contest in the ICC World Cup 2019. This match #15 will be played at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on Monday. With rain likely to be a threat, South African fans will be anxious.

Losses to England, Bangladesh and India have left the Proteas at the bottom of the points tally. They need to win all of their remaining matches to have any knockout hopes. West Indies have won against Pakistan, but came agonisingly short against Australia.

South Africa Preview

Even as they struggle for results in England, South Africa are engulfed with the talk around AB de Villiers. The seniors Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis need to put more into their game to improve their fortunes.

Injuries aren’t helping either and Lungi Ngidi is set to miss another game. Beuran Hendricks could get a nod. The spin conditions, however, could tempt them into going for a second spinner. The fact remains, though, that South Africa are struggling to get their balance.

West Indies Preview

The Windies came very close to making it two wins in two. A series of poor umpiring decisions and a faltering middle-order, however, left them dry. Nevertheless, there is so much firepower in the side that make them a dangerous proposition.

Chris Gayle will look to get into his groove, while Shai Hope remains their best batsman. With every top-order batsman oozing confidence, it is a question of one batsman playing the big knock. And, with the ball, the short ball tactics are working wonders for the Windies pacers.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Shai Hope is one of the best technically equipped West Indian batsmen of this unit. He will look to play the anchor role for the Windies.

Andre Russell has surprised everyone with his bowling. After fluffing his lines with the bat against Australia, the all-rounder will look to make amends.

Quinton de Kock is probably the saving grace for South Africa at the top of the order. He will once again target a quick start for the Proteas.
