Boosted by consecutive wins, Pakistan will look to continue their momentum in the 2019 ICC World Cup when they play Afghanistan. This match #36 will be played at Headingley, Leeds on Saturday.

Pakistan have seven points in seven match and just one point behind fourth-placed England. The equation is simple for the 1992 Champions. Pakistan need to win their remaining two games to have a semi-final chance. Afghanistan are already eliminated, but will gun for their first win of the tournament.

Pakistan Preview

Pakistan look to have found their best form and combination. The openers are yet to settle down, but the consistency of Babar Azam is a treat. Haris Sohail’s consistent hitting is another boost for the middle-order.

Bowling has remained strong throughout, led by Mohammad Amir. The other two left-arm seamers Wahab Riaz and Shaheen Afridi have also started chipping. Leg-spinner Shadab Khan seems to have recovered fully and is showing his true value to the side.

Afghanistan Preview

It has been a disappointing campaign for the Afghans in many ways. Still, if they can beat Pakistan, it will remain a memorable World Cup. That is not beyond them, as India have found out in their group match earlier.

Batting remains a big concern, as none of the Afghan batsmen have shown the technique to survive. The poor returns of Rashid Khan are a worry, although the form of Mujeeb Ur Rahman is a positive.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Babar Azam has been a picture of consistency for Pakistan. His century against New Zealand was a top-class effort. He will look to continue his good form and pick more runs.

Haris Sohail has added good spunk to Pakistan’s middle-order. The stylish left-hander will fancy another good score against a struggling Afghanistan side.

Mohammad Amir has been the lynchpin of Pakistan’s bowling this tournament. He will fancy his chances of grabbing wickets against a jittery Afghan batting unit.
