In one of the first blockbuster clashes of the ICC World Cup 2019, India and Australia fight out for honours. This match #14 of the tournament will be played in London at Kennington Oval. Both sides are among the favourites for the title, so a win would give them leeway over the rest.
India have started their tournament very late than the others. However, a confident six-wicket win over South Africa has shown that they are ready. Australia are two in two, after defeating Afghanistan comprehensively and stopping West Indies in their tracks.
Like they have shown against South Africa, India are one of the strongest batting units. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are going to be a handful for any attack. Although doubts remain over Shikhar Dhawan’s form and KL Rahul’s suitability, India are confident.
Interestingly, it is the bowling that remains India’s best bet. In Jasprit Bumrah they have one of the best pace bowlers of this tournament. The wrist-spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal could once again be the key.
The Kangaroos have shown that they are hard to beat when they put their mind to it. The well-known ‘fear factor’ of the Australian sides looks to have come back. The return of David Warner and Steve Smith looks to have given them an extra boost.
With Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc in terrific form, Australia are proving to be excellent with the ball as well. With the tail wagging as good as it did against the Windies, Australia look to have all the bases covered.
Fantasy Players to Watch
Mitchell Starc has shown to the Windies that he is still a dangerous bowler. His pace is steadily going up too, making him an exciting fantasy pick.
Steve Smith loves making statements and has often enjoyed playing India. With a consistent run from the practice games and continuing in the World Cup, Smith remains a must have for your side.
Jasprit Bumrah is in the best form of his life and is a very tough bowler to face. With his unique action and the ability to generate pace, Bumrah is a good fantasy pick.
India could be tempted to play Mohammad Shami in place of one of the wrist spinners or Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
