Fantasy Cricket: 2019 ICC World Cup – England vs Bangladesh Preview

A surprise loss to Pakistan has sent shock waves across England. However, there is nothing much really to panic as they get ready to host Bangladesh. This match # 12 of the ICC World Cup 2019 will be played at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Saturday.

Both sides have one win and a loss in the two games that they played. England brushed aside South Africa (104 runs), but came second against Pakistan (14 runs). Bangladesh stunned South Africa (21 runs), but lost out to New Zealand (two wickets).

England Preview

The hosts were overwhelming favourites to defeat Pakistan, but a poor fielding effort contributed to their loss. Regardless, England still look in control of their performances and should fancy getting back to their best.

Johnny Bairstow is yet to hit the ground running for England. Eoin Morgan will also hope that his bowlers do not leak in the death overs as many as they did against Pakistan. Cardiff’s weather and the ambiguous factor of spin will remain in England’s mind, though.

Bangladesh Preview

The Tigers have been the surprise package of the tournament so far. With efficient performances, Bangladesh have shown they are a force. The top order is relatively in good form for the visitors.

However, over-dependence on all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is a worry. Captain Mashrafe Mortaza is yet to contribute with the ball. If they want to harbour any hopes of toppling England, Bangladesh need more wicket-taking options.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Shakib Al Hasan is having a great tournament so far, with both bat and the ball. The all-rounder will be once again crucial for Bangladesh.

Joe Root showed against Pakistan that patience is a virtue. With the spinners expected to put them under pressure, Root could be crucial for England.

Tamim Iqbal more often than not enjoys playing England. Some of his best knocks, across all formats, have come against the Three Lions.
