We are nearing the business end of the 2019 ICC World Cup and one of the biggest matches is awaiting us! Ashes rivals England and Australia renew their ODI rivalry. This match #32 at Lord’s on Tuesday will set the tone for the rest of the tournament.

Australia have five wins out of six today, with the loss to India their only lapse. England, on the other hand, have four wins and two losses. More importantly, their last loss to Sri Lanka has opened up the tournament. A loss to eternal rivals Australia will put more pressure on England, apart from losing out on psychological edge.

England Preview

It is not all rosy for England, though. The loss of Jason Roy to injury has exposed their top-order. Although the form of Joe Root and Eoin Morgan is pristine, concerns remain over the team when put under pressure.

What sets England apart is the brilliant bowling of Jofra Archer and Mark Wood so far. The duo have been excellent so far and that has set a nice trend for them. Their recent record against Australia in ODIs is also very positive. England have won ten of their last 11 ODIs against Australia including the last six. In addition, they have won the last six H2H home ODIs.

Australia Preview

The Aussies will come under a lot of crowd pressure. More notably, David Warner and Steve Smith. However, these two together with captain Aaron Finch have been silently racking up the runs. In sharp contrast to their hosts, Australia believe in building up the scores from the start.

Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc have been enjoying hunting in pairs for Australia. Their performance will once again be crucial if Australia want to stop England. The lack of a wicket-taking spinner could be their Achilles heel, though.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Aaron Finch enjoys playing against England. He has ten 50+ scores in 25 ODIs against them, including six centuries.

Joe Root is in the midst of a great run this tournament. His five 50+ scores in six innings include two centuries.

Jofra Archer caught the eye of everyone with standout performances in the Big Bash. Time to show the Aussies what he’s made up of?
