It is a crunch game in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2018 season as defending Champions Adelaide Strikers prepare to host Sydney Thunder at Adelaide Oval on Monday in the last game of BBL08 for 2018. The Strikers have picked up just two points from their three matches while the Thunder have two wins in their three matches. Although it is early days, a loss for either side will put pressure on their campaign, which means we are up for a testing encounter.
Adelaide Strikers Preview
The Strikers were run ragged by the Scorchers in their previous game and are struggling for runs through the season. Alex Carey has just 86 runs at a SR of 108.86 which isn’t helping their cause. He is still a huge pick to be part of your fantasy team, in case he is still not!
However, it is the Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan (five wickets) who is the Strikers’ trump card this season. His ability to pick wickets at regular times and still throw up dot balls make him a definite pick for your team.
Adelaide Strikers Predicted XI: 1 Alex Carey (WK) 2 Jake Weatherald 3 Colin Ingram 4 Matt Short 5 Jono Wells 6 Jake Lehmann 7 Peter Siddle 8 Cameron Valente 9 Rashid Khan 10 Ben Laughlin 11 Billy Stanlake
Sydney Thunder Preview
The Thunder come into the game on the back of a loss to the rampaging Hurricanes in a high-scoring encounter. That should not set them back, as the form of their English import Jos Buttler (172 runs) has been immaculate. His presence behind the sticks has been steady as well and so Buttler should be a definite pick for your side.
Bowling has been their problem, although all-rounder Daniel Sams (six wickets) continues to surprise everyone with his showing. Their only worry remains the absence of runs from Joe Root.
Sydney Thunder Predicted XI: 1 Jos Buttler (WK) 2 Shane Watson 3 Callum Ferguson 4 Joe Root 5 Jason Sangha 6 Chris Green 7 Daniel Sams 8 Nathan McAndrew 9 Jono Cook 10 Sam Rainbird 11 Fawad Ahmed
Fantasy BBL Players to Watch
Jos Buttler has been going from strength to strength in the Big Bash. After a blockbuster season last year, he has started with 172 runs and has two 50+ scores in the last two matches. His strike rate is getting better as well – currently it’s 160.74!
Daniel Sams has been a surprise all-round presence for the Thunder this season. Not just his six wickets, but also the 73 runs he scored make him a strong presence behind Buttler.
Rashid Khan continues to thrill everyone with his skills, and already has five wickets with an excellent economy of 3.41. To not have him in your fantasy side will be a huge mistake!
