Melbourne Stars v Brisbane Heat

As we move closer to identifying the top-four of the Big Bash League 2018/19 (BBL08) season, the matches keep getting interesting. Match #42 will see the Melbourne Stars host Brisbane Heat at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The Stars (W5, L5) are still in the bottom-half of the table, but have won their last two matches. They can go as high as second with a win in this match. The Heat (W3, L5) are also in the bottom-half and desperately need a win. Only one win in their last four matches means the visitors are on a sticky wicket.

Melbourne Stars Preview

The return of the Australian ODI players has energised the Stars. Marcus Stoinis (269 runs, ten wickets) is their best player and a definite pick for fantasy teams. Ben Dunk (235 runs, SR 119.89) has also started picking up form, so watch out!

If you are looking for fantasy selections from the Stars, keep an eye on Dwayne Bravo (13 wickets). He has picked up after a poor start to the season, while Adam Zampa (ER 6.95) continues to be economical.

Melbourne Stars Predicted XI: 1 Ben Dunk 2 Marcus Stoinis 3 Peter Handscomb (WK) 4 Glenn Maxwell 5 Nic Maddinson 6 Dwayne Bravo 7 Evan Gulbis 8 Liam Plunkett 9 Adam Zampa 10 Jackson Bird 11 Daniel Worrall

Brisbane Heat Preview

The Heat are struggling at the moment for positive results. A lot of it is due to their over-reliance on ‘Bash Brothers’. Chris Lynn (319 runs, SR 127.09) is an exciting name that you can hardly miss in your fantasy selection.

When it comes to bowlers, the Heat have struggled. Josh Lalor (ten wickets) leads the pack, but half of those wickets have come in one match against the Sixers. With four games in seven days, the Heat will feel the heat in their qualification run.

Brisbane Heat Predicted XI: 1 Max Bryant 2 Brendon McCullum 3 Chris Lynn 4 Jimmy Peirson (WK) 5 Matt Renshaw 6 Ben Cutting 7 Jack Prestwidge 8 Josh Lalor 9 Brendan Doggett 10 Mitchell Swepson 11 Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Fantasy Players to Watch

Marcus Stoinis is an exciting and definite player to be part of your XI. His all-round returns have lifted the Stars and will once again be crucial in this match.

Glenn Maxwell has 136 runs in BBL08 with a SR of 130.76. Not the numbers you usually associate with ‘Big Show’, but he can change that with one knock.

Chris Lynn has scores of 2 & 4 in his last two matches. For a player of his skill, Lynn hasn’t been hitting it well this season. Time for a season-changing knock?
