Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Thunder

It is an important clash for both sides in the Big Bash League 2018/19 (BBL08) season at Optus Stadium in Perth on Thursday night. This match #41 between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder will determine the fortunes of the sides in the tournament.

The Scorchers (W3, L6) are stuck at the bottom of the points table and badly need a win to revive their campaign. The Thunder (W4, L5) are fifth in the table, but the tight nature of the season means they can be under pressure if they lose.

Perth Scorchers Preview

The biggest cheer for the hosts is the return of Australia ODI players – Marsh brothers and Jason Behrendorff. Jhye Richardson is unavailable due to Test selection. David Willey, Sam Whiteman and Aaron Hardie are injured.

Ashton Turner (302 runs, SR 133.62) and Cameron Bancroft (191 runs) will once again be candidates for fantasy team selection. Andrew Tye (12 wickets, ER 8.03) has emerged strong after a poor start and will be a good pick.

Perth Scorchers Predicted XI: 1 Michael Klinger 2 Cameron Bancroft (WK) 3 Shaun Marsh 4 Ashton Turner 5 Mitch Marsh 6 Hilton Cartwright 7 Nathan Coulter-Nile 8 Andrew Tye 9 Matt Kelly 10 Jason Behrendorff 11 Usman Qadir

Sydney Thunder Preview

The Thunder have lost three of their last five matches, winning only one. Captain Shane Watson (289 runs) has found some consistency, but only Callum Ferguson among the rest remains their best bet.

All-rounder Daniel Sams is a vital part of Thunder season and can be a good fantasy pick. While Fawad Ahmed (11) continues to be among wickets, you can choose to have him in your side.

Fantasy Players to Watch

Shaun Marsh is coming off an excellent ODI series against India. He usually enjoys the white-ball formats and should be able to slot right back into T20 mode. Having him in your fantasy side will be a help to your scores.

Jason Behrendorff enjoys the pace and bounce in Perth. His wickets up front, together with his economy rate make him an attractive fantasy pick.

Callum Ferguson hasn’t really been consistent this season. However, with the Thunder BBL08 chances coming to a crucial stage, it is vital that he comes up with good knocks.
