Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Thunder

It is getting very close at the top in the Big Bash League (BBL08) 2018/19 season, ahead of match #33 when Brisbane Heat take on Sydney Thunder at the Gabba in Brisbane.

The Heat (W3, L4) have picked up pace in their season, with three wins in their last four matches. The Thunder (W4, L4) on the other hand have lost four of their last six. Contrasting form makes this contest all the more interesting.

Brisbane Heat Preview

Chris Lynn (313 runs, SR 133.19) remains a strong presence at the top for the Heat. With his improved form, he becomes a key player for the hosts. Add in Brendon McCullum’s runs (205 runs, SR 132.25), the ‘Bash Brothers’ are a good fantasy pick.

Brendan Doggett (six wickets) has picked up pace, while Mujeeb Ur Rahman (six wickets, ER 5.58) remains a great addition to your fantasy XI. Their bowling, however, remains light barring the duo.

Brisbane Heat Predicted XI: 1 Max Bryant 2 Brendon McCullum 3 Chris Lynn 4 Sam Heazlett 5 Alex Ross 6 Jimmy Peirson (WK) 7 Ben Cutting 8 Mujeeb Ur Rahman 9 Mark Steketee 11 Josh Lalor

Sydney Thunder Preview

The Thunders have welcomed new additions Anton Devcich and Chris Jordan to their playing XI by thumping the Strikers in their last match (71 runs). Captain Shane Watson (188 runs, SR 127.89) remains a great fantasy pick.

Their bowling has a distinct advantage, though, as Daniel Sams (11) and Fawad Ahmed (ten wickets) are giving good fantasy points. Keep an eye on Chris Green (ER 6.75), who continues to be a puzzle for the opponent batsmen.

Sydney Thunder Predicted XI: 1 Shane Watson 2 Anton Devcich 3 Callum Ferguson 4 Ryan Gibson 5 Arjun Nair 6 Jay Lenton (WK) 7 Chris Green 8 Chris Jordan 9 Gurinder Sandhu 10 Fawad Ahmed 11 Daniel Sams

Fantasy Players to Watch

Chris Lynn has 423 runs against the Thunder at a staggering SR of 180. With his form peaking at the right time, the Heat captain is a great pick to be in your fantasy XI for this match.

Shane Watson has to keep firing for the Thunder, now with Jos Buttler has departed for national duties. His knock of 68 in the last match is a reminder of how he can turn a match around.

Anton Devcich is a perfect T20 all-rounder to have in your fantasy XI. He gives you runs, can surprise batsmen with wickets at the top and can slog sixes all around. He can be a dark-horse pick in your team.
