Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers

It is a crunch battle in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2018/19 season, as bottom of the table Brisbane Heat prepare to take on Sydney Sixers at the Carrara Oval on New Year’s Day. The Heat have lost both their matches so far, while the Sixers have two wins and two losses in their four matches so far.

Brisbane Heat Preview

The Heat are playing as if their season has not yet started. Superstar Chris Lynn is yet to fire and with 62 runs at a SR of 108.77, it has been a disastrous start for the swashbuckler and those who chose him in their fantasy sides!

Same is the case with Brendon McCullum (eight runs), who hasn’t got going either. The only one repaying the fantasy sides from the Heat roster is the Afghan mystery spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman (two wickets, ER 6.12).

Brisbane Heat Predicted XI: 1 Brendon McCullum 2 Max Bryant 3 Chris Lynn 4 Joe Burns 5 Sam Heazlett 6 Ben Cutting 7 Jim Peirson (WK) 8 Mark Steketee 9 Josh Lalor 10 Mitchell Swepson 11 Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Sydney Sixers Preview

The Sixers have been all over the place swinging to either extremes with their performances, but the 33-run win over the Renegades could be their season changer. Jordan Silk (138 runs, SR 115) has been a surprise payback for the teams who chose to have him in their fantasy selections!

However, it is the surprise consistency of Steve O’Keefe (nine wickets, ER 5.43) that has pleasantly rewarded the fantasy picks. Even Tom Curran (six wickets, 87 runs) is proving to be a nice catch for the fantasy XIs.

Sydney Sixers Predicted XI: 1 Jack Edwards 2 Joe Denly 3 Daniel Hughes 4 Moises Henriques 5 Jordan Silk 6 Josh Philippe (WK) 7 Tom Curran 8 Sean Abbott 9 Steve O’Keefe 10 Ben Dwarshuis 11 Ben Manenti

Fantasy Players to Watch

Steve O’Keefe has been a silent top performer for the Sixers so far. Having already pulled an incredible win out of nowhere against the Renegades, the left-arm spinner could be a good pick for your fantasy XI.

Tom Curran has been an excellent addition to the Sixers’ roster this season with his all-round play. His slog over bowling is sure to fetch some dot balls along with a bunch of wickets – a sure-shot entry to your fantasy team!

Chris Lynn is someone you can’t not have in your team! Even if he is not firing this season and even if he averages just 9.67 against the Sixers, the swashbuckler is a sure shot in your fantasy XI.
