Chris Lynn led Brisbane Heat started their Big Bash League (BBL) 2018 season with a five-wicket loss to Adelaide Strikers at home. They now take their season to the Carrara Stadium in Gold Coast for its first-ever BBL match, against defending runners-up Hobart Hurricanes. While the Heat will look to get back to winning ways, the Hurricanes will try to start their season on the right foot!
Brisbane Heat Preview
A five-wicket loss to defending Champions Adelaide Strikers on the opening night marked the start of the BBL08 season for the Heat. The failure of the top-order barring Chris Lynn meant they were always behind the rate. Only a league-best 27 by number 11 Mujeeb Ur Rahman on debut gave the Heat some respectability.
Having Mujeeb in your fantasy sides must have paid off, if not for his bowling but for his batting! James Pattinson also proved useful with some wickets, but Lynn will once again be the key. Watch out for more big hits at the top of the order.
Brisbane Heat Predicted XI: 1 Brendon McCullum 2 Max Bryant 3 Chris Lynn 4 Joe Burns 5 Alex Ross 6 Jimmy Peirson (WK) 7 Ben Cutting 8 James Pattinson 9 Mark Steketee 10 Mitchell Swepson 11 Mujeeeb Ur Rahman
Hobart Hurricanes Preview
Last season saw the Hurricanes reach the finals, largely due to the heroics of D’Arcy Short (572 runs in BBL07) and Joffra Archer (16 wickets). The duo will once again be crucial for the Hurricanes, who will hope for Ben McDermott (325 runs) to start from where he ended previous season.
Apart from Archer, the bowling will depend on the frugal spin duo of Clive Rose and Johan Botha. Tymal Mills had a very poor last season, which casts doubts on selecting him for your fantasy side! Having James Faulkner could help, as the all-rounder continues his search for form.

Fantasy Players to Watch
Chris Lynn is an irresistible force when it comes to Big Bash. As was evident in his first innings of BBL08 (33 off 20 balls, 4X4 2X6), Lynn is always a danger for the opposition bowlers, but a great asset to your fantasy side!
D’Arcy Short shot to limelight with his consistency in BBL07 and his pyrotechnics at the top of the order. He will look to start on the right footing and that could mean a lot of runs and sixes!
Jofra Archer is probably one of the most exciting takeaways from last season – not just for the Hurricanes, but for the entire tournament. The easy-on-eye fast bowler will once again look to be among the wickets.
